Creative Arts Therapist Heather is ANZACATA registered, holding qualifications in Master of Therapeutic Arts. Heather also has completed Music, Theatre, and Disability studies.
Her approach to Therapy is Trauma-Informed, incorporating the MIECAT Values of Relationality, Experiencing, Emergence and Multimodality. Heather has over 30 years experience working alongside people living with disabilities in the fields of Education, Early Intervention and Community Arts. Heather practices as a multimedia artist in her studio in Rosebud, respectfully acknowledging the culture and ancient wisdom of First Nations people, as Traditional Owners of the Boon Wurrung Land on which she lives, works, plays and creates.
Heather has much lived experience in the field of disability and particularly through the carer lens. Decades of navigating disability services, NDIS, aged care and medical systems has informed her way of being with vulnerability and finding a voice. Heathers time working in a Palliative Care setting led to her creating works on canvas, a series of intersubjective response cards and poetry in A Space for Lost Things.
Heather continues to deep dive into the realms of grief, agency and advocacy in her autoethnographic creative journey as a Doctoral Candidate.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Boon Wurrung land and waterways where this practice is privileged to be situated on. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.
